Smiling Sun Pottery is functional hand-thrown stoneware made by Sabine Rosenstein in Brooklyn, NY. Pieces are both practical and decorative and range from tiny bud vases to large serving platters; with mugs, wine glasses with ceramic stems, containers, luminaries and beautiful berry colanders to round out the assortment.

 

The process of making pottery is simple and direct, but it is also a craft that lends itself to exploring creativity.  While striving for functionality in her pieces, Sabine wants them to also bring beauty and enjoyment to those who use them. Therefore many of her pots are individually decorated, often with carved designs inspired by nature and the city alike.  She loves finding new architectural details in her neighborhood to add to renditions of Brownstones carved into the clay.
